Gautam (5/8/17)

Gautam (DOB: 5/8/17) comes from a community where superstitious beliefs have blinded people. The majority of the people are uneducated and don’t understand the value of education. Gautam is the only child in his family. His father is a sewage worker in the municipality corporation where he sweeps roads and cleans drainages. This occupation is the lowest paid job. The safety and hygiene practice is another concern, as they are not provided with any safety measures. Workers are exposed directly to all the dirt, junk and sewage. Gautam’s mother is a housemaid and works in nearby apartments. Even though both of Gautam’s parents are hard workers, they do not make enough money to cover the basic needs of their family. Gautam is an active and strong boy. He loves to keep his hair neatly combed. He enjoys going to school and playing with friends. He is also very close to his grandmother. Despite their low income, the parents have a keen passion for Gautam’s education. They have high ambitions for him and believe that if he is admitted into the community child-care center, Gautam will have a bright future.
