Jogeswari (8/4/17)

Jogeswari (DOB: 8/4/17) lives with his parents and younger brother in a community called "Mochi". The Mochi people are treated as the most unclean and untouchable group in society. Some would even avoid their shadow while passing on the road. Jogeswari’s father is a daily laborer. He works at a mall and doesn’t earn enough for the family’s basic needs. He is frustrated because their first child is a girl. In this community, having a girl first is considered a curse from their gods and goddesses. He strongly believes that if the first child would have been a boy, their family would be in a better place. To relieve his anger over this disappointment, he drinks alcohol and squanders what little he makes. He admittedly does not love Jogeswari. Because of the father’s irresponsibility, the mother works as a maid to make what little she can to provide for her children.
