Prathiksha (4/19/16)

Prathiksha (DOB: 4/19/16) is a gifted child who excels in school. She is an excellent dancer who enjoys taking part in school and local gatherings. Her parents are hardworking. Her father works on a farm and in the off-season travels to other districts to work in construction. Because of this, he stays away from home for many months and comes back during the planting season. To supplement the family income, her mother works for a 100 day job program offered by the government to undedicated women. The family’s living conditions are appalling; their hut is made of straw and dry palm fronds and the walls and floor are composed of mud. During the rainy season, water gets inside their hut making it difficult to live in. For safety reasons, they take shelter in a community center. Prathiksha’s parents want to send her to a good school so she may get a solid education, but they are unable to afford the fees.
