Umayal (4/10/19)

Umayal (DOB: 4/10/19) is a charming little girl who likes pink dresses. She is enjoys singing and listening to singing programs on television. She and her older sister live with their parents in a one room hut by the river. During monsoon season, their home is vulnerable to flooding. The land they live on is not a permanent hone for them as they live on government wasteland. Her mother has a small shop that she operates out of their hut. They have two cows, which are the only assets they have. Her father is a farm laborer. Sanitation is a big issue. There is no drainage in her village so they cannot make toilets. So, people go near the river bank or in the fields to relieve themselves. Her parents have a strong desire to give Umayal a good education so she can fulfill her dreams.
